The Sunday Post Meme | 07 May 2023

Dear Bookbugs,

I am back with another Sunday post. If you don’t know already, the Sunday Post is a book meme hosted by Kimberley @CaffeinatedReviewer. It is a roundup of all things bookish or otherwise that you wish to share with your fellow readers.

In my previous post, I was hoping that I could compensate for my lack of reading time in May. Sadly that hasn’t happened yet. I started reading The Writing Retreat and I think it kind of put me in a slump. It’s not the books’s fault but something about it made me feel weird and then I just stopped reading altogether. I don’t know why. I have a few blog tours lined up and I really want to catch up. So fingers crossed.

On the weather front. we finally had our fair share of our mango showers and the temperature cooled down. I mean it is still hot, but bearable. Also, update on the cat thing. They are not bothering me now. We both are successfully managing our boundaries. No more cat hair allergies for me. Moving on to the bookish things, here is me giving you a quick update on the previous week and things to look forward to in the coming week:

Review of the Week

The review of the week features Amy from The Shelf of Unread Books for Straight Expectations by Calum McSwiggan. I am doing a spotlight for this book next week and I wanted to familiarise myself with the book. So I was reading a few reviews and this one felt it like it included everything that most of the reviews were saying in a nutshell. Plus, this review is the one that actually made me consider whether I should add it to my never-ending TBR pile.

Series of the Week

I watched the first two episodes of Citadel because of the hype and also because of Desi girl. It was okay but in some weird Indian way, I am so happy for Priyanka. Her real life is almost similar to her 2008 movie Fashion where she falls from the top but then, finds her way back and even better in the end. There are moments from Fashion that have always been motivating for me. The “Meghna now” moment and the walk at the end where she fulfills her dream of becoming a supermodel is how I view her landing a meaty role in the West after a decade of trying.
