WWW Wednesday | 20 May 2020
Dear Bookbugs,
In the previous WWW post, I mentioned that May is really good for me. Luckily my reading heist is going on strong and I have only one more book on my planned TBR to tackle. Things look pretty great so far in the reading department. That means, a little bit of showing off is due this Wednesday or so I reckon. ( *coughs*)
The WWW Wednesday meme was hosted by MizV at A Daily Rhythm. It is now revived by Taking a World of Words.
This is a simple meme where you have to answer the three W’s of a reader’s life.
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
And then link the host’s blog to your post and if possible leave a comment in theirs.
Here’s a quick update on what I am reading this Wednesday.
1)What are you currently reading?
At the moment I am reading a thriller – The Guest List by Lucy Foley. The book is basically everywhere on the bookish community. Too hard to ignore. Besides, monsoon came early is my state this year. I am blessed and privileged to be at home with a book in my hand and a blanket on my lap. In the gloomy and dark monsoon days, I prefer books with some kind of darkness in it. The Guest List fits the bill perfectly. It is a murder mystery that happens on an island where everyone comes to attend a wedding. Basically, someone from this wedding party is murdered. We don’t know who and we don’t know whodunnit.
It took me some time to get into this because there are too many characters to follow. But after a hundred pages or so, things are getting captivating and atmospheric. Hope it pays off in the end.
2) What did you recently finish reading?
I recently finished reading a romance book – Wild At Heart by K A Tucker. I’ve read Simple Wild last year and loved it. Unfortunately my review of The Simple Wild got lost, and I couldn’t post it. Anyway, Wild At Heart follows the main characters Calla and Jonah. It picks up from where it left in the first book. The love story is real and grounded even though the premise makes it seem ethereal. Calla lives in Toronto but she went to Canada to reconnect with her dying father and falls for the bush pilot Jonah in Simple Wild.
Wild At Heart explores the lives of Jonah and Calla when she moves to Alaska to live with her boyfriend. It is about finding your own footing while adjusting to the needs of your partner. The book never white washes the complexity of such a decision and that is why it stands out.
3) What will you read next?
The next book that I am planning to read is the Catalyst by Tracy Richardson. I am reading this YA fantasy as part of the blog tour by #TheWriteReads. Catalyst is the second book in the Catalysts series. I haven’t read the first book but I am hoping that won’t be a problem. Catalyst is a YA fantasy. Marcie Horton is spending her summer at her mother’s archaeological digging site. She has the ability to sense things beyond the normal and that leads her getting involved in an adventure to save the planet as we know it. The planet definitely is in need of some saving!
Anyway, I am hoping to find a good entertainer and if the book is captivating, I might as well read the first one. I am not usually the one to skip a book in the series, but I am kind of pushed for time. Here’s hoping I will enjoy this.
That is my reading update for this weekend. Let me know your thoughts about these books or books with similar themes in the comment section.
Happy reading!!
