Narrative and Plot

Clues To You is so far my favourite BBNYA finalist read. Cozy mystery is not exactly my preferred genre, but this one fits my comfort zone since the mystery revolves around a game. Even so, the story managed to create enough tension and intrigue. It made us care about both the murder mystery and the puzzle surrounding the event.

The plot is evenly paced, with the right balance of tension and character insight to keep us invested. I enjoyed every minute of it. Clues To You is, deservedly, the winner of BBNYA 2024.

Characters and Conflicts

While there is a murder mystery to solve, we also follow the romance between our main characters, Max and Kate. Both are adorable, and their dynamic has shades of hate to love. More than that, though, it’s about two people getting closer and learning more about each other while sharing their passion for solving mysteries.

Max and Kate were flawed in their own ways, but they showed growth and maturity while giving us plenty of fun moments. The ensemble cast added flair and flavour to the story. The mix of murder mystery suspects and friend group dynamics was immersive enough to suspend disbelief. As someone who loves a good Agatha Christie novel now and then, the backdrop of a historical murder mystery was an added bonus.

Conclusion

Overall, I really enjoyed Clues To You. I’m determined to read more books in this series and more from the author. The writing lured me into this fictional world, and that doesn’t happen often.

If you love a classic whodunnit paired with a clean, sweet romance, don’t miss this one. It’s a must-read!
