Favorite Holiday Reads | 2025
Dear Bookbugs,
Reading in December is the coziest of experiences for me. I don’t have winter where I live, but how I love reading about the snow-clad cozy little towns and their Christmas charms. All of this inspired me to curate a list of holiday reads that I’ve read over the years and loved. Not all of them are five star reads, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas spirit and the overall atmosphere that these stories created. They are cozy, fun and warm, like a perfect cup of hot chocolate.

Here we go ,
1) Silent Days Holy Night by Phyllis Clark Nichols

Silent Days, Holy Night is an uplifting story about the real meaning of Chirstmas spirit. Emerald Crest is a green granite mansion that used to host the most lavish parties once upon a time. After years however, the parties stopped, and the owner of the mansion, Mr. Henry Lefferty the Second, chose a life of reclusion for many years. When eleven-year-old Julia meets Mr. Lafferty and overhears a secret about him, she is determined to bring back Christmas to this mansion.
This whole book is revolving around Christmas, and it really gets to your heart. It conveys a simple message of doing good and bringing joy to everyone in a powerful way. I would recommend this book to everyone to read during the holiday season.
2)In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren

In a Holidaze is a time loop Christmas romance where we follow Maelyn Jones. She is not having the best of the holiday season when she finds out that the snowy Utah cabin where her family and their long time family friends used to spend the festive season is going on sale and they are all getting together for a final blast. On her way, Maelyn makes a plea to the universe to show her what will make her happy. From there on, she gets into a time loop, and you can see where the story goes from there.
The story hits all the beats that you expect from a repetitive narrative storyline. It doesn’t get too caught up. You are there with the main character, taking in the confusion, the dread, and the frustration – all of it. This is a holiday tale with a whimsical touch that can take you on this joy ride. At the same time, it explores the most basic conflict that any self-loving person must have had at some point in their life. What makes one really happy? Sometimes, curling up with a feel-good book such as this after a wholesome meal with a family can make one happy. If you’re that person, make sure you pick this one up for the holiday season.
3)Holiday Romance by Catherine Walsh

Catherine Walsh got on everyone’s holiday reading list with this one. So I feel proud of myself for finding and loving her books before all that. Anyway, this book follows Molly and Andrew who have been friend for a long time. For the last ten years they get on a plane together from Chicago to Dublin for the holidays and catch upon their life. It is their holiday tradition. However, tis Christmas their journey doesn’t go as planned. Now, Molly isn’t that big on Christmas but she knows that it means everything to Andrew and plans to get him home on time.
True to her style, Catherine Walsh brings back the witty, self-deprecating heroine in Molly who is embarking on a whirlwind trip as she races against time to reach home for Christmas. Or rather get her airport friend Andrew home. The book goes between the present and the previous flights between them over a decade giving us the much-needed insight for a friends-to-lovers trope.
The plot is as simple as that. Yet it is entertaining and I love the classic and genuine rom-com style the author adapts in her books. It is a cozy romance novel to curl up with during the festive season. It has mistle toes, chocolates, an airport mad dash, a cozy Christmas dinner, and a sizzling hot romance on the side.
4)Snowed In by Catherine Walsh

Oh yeah, I manifested this when I read the Holiday Romance and got it the next Christmas season. Of course, I am including Snowed In in the list of favorite holiday reads. We follow Christian who is the brother of Andrew from Holiday Romance, and Megan who is kind of an outcast back in the village after she left the popular guy Issac at the altar and flew off to the big city. Long story short, these two decide to fake date and get snowed -in in a cabin, romance ensues.
When I picked this companion novel to Holiday Romance, I expected a cozy romance with a whole lot of Irish Christmas vibes (lots of food and family). That is exactly what it turned out to be. It was warm, fuzzy, and cozy, like freshly baked cinnamon-dusted bread. Is that a thing? I hope so because that is how I felt about this one.
5)A Very Lucky Christmas by Lilac Mills

Christmas is that time of the year when you are supposed to feel contented and loved. But things are not so well for Daisy Jones. With her love life and work life going south and being forced to move in back with her mother and grandmother, Daisy is in need of some good luck. Her great-grandmother “Gee Gee” as she calls her apparently feels the same and advises her to put a sixpence in her Christmas pudding. Only if she gets her sixpence will luck follow Daisy is what her grandmother believes. Did she get the sixpence? Will good luck find its way to Daisy? That is what you find out in this book.
Daisy, the protagonist, has a clear and witty voice which made me smile, laugh and enjoy the entire book. There was never a dull moment, thanks to her. A well-weaved narrative and the string of confusions amidst all the Christmas theme is indeed a fun read. If you enjoy a Christmasy romantic comedy, then pick it up. It will lift up your spirits!!
And with that we have come to the end of our list. What are your favorite holidayreads? Let me know in the comments. If you’ve read any of these books, share your thoughts about them as well.
Enjoy your holidays.
